Frequently
Asked Questions: Indoor vs. Outdoor
I
don't have room in my house? Can your pieces go outside?
All of my plaster sculpture is for indoors only. Plaster is pourous and
if exposed to ourdoor elements it will absorb water and decay over the
years. However, plaster will last forever indoors.
I
would love to have a sculpture in my garden or next to my pool. Is there
any way to do that?
Yes. The
original plaster piece may be cast in bronze, aluminum or fiberglass.
How much will casting a sculpture cost?
Casting a piece in bronze can be very expensive, but there are many
different options. The most important thing to consider is where you
have it done. The foundaryies around New York are 10-20 times the cost
of China or even the midwest.
If
a collector expresses an interest in an outdoor piece, I present them
with their specific options, including quotes from competitive foundaries.
Will
I get to keep the original plaster if I choose to bronze my sculpture?
If you buy
the plaster original, you still own it after it is cast in any other
material. However, the preservation of the original plaster also depends
on the foundary and the technology they are usuing to cast the piece.
How
long will a bronze or fiberglass piece last outside?
Forever; however, as with anything that you keep outside, it will need
to be properly cleaned to maintain its appearance.
How
long will a plaster piece last inside?
Forever.
