SOHO,
NYC—New York sculptor Bret Reilly makes his return to the
United States after his successful international debut last year
at Art Generation Gallery in Paris, France. Oblivious marks Reilly’s
second residency at “apt” with new techniques and a
compelling commentary on the individual.
Reilly captures his trademark whimsy with more than 20 new figurative
sculptures. Unlike most of his installations, where a specific theme
threads all of the pieces together—Bus
Stop, 2005, and No
Smoking, 2006—Oblivious
emphasizes individual themes. However, there is commonality in the
new work—all of Reilly’s characters unconsciously expose
themselves to the viewer during their own personal moments.
